Through the HAZ-DROP program, residents of Clearlake and Lake County can drop off Household Hazardous Waste materials for safe disposal. Most items are accepted at no cost.

What: Household Hazardous Waste drop-off for residents of Clearlake and Lake County
When: The third Friday and Saturday of each month, from 9am – 1pm
Where: Collection takes place at rotating ends of the lake, for convenience to all residents in Lake County
Please Bring: Identification as a Lake County resident

Materials NOT Accepted:

• Explosives & ammunition
• Propane tanks over 5 gallonse
• E-waste
• Compressed gas cylinders
• Narcotics
• Radioactive materials
• Medical waste (needles & sharps are accepted)

In addition to the HAZ-DROP program, certain Household Hazardous Waste materials can be brought to by the Lake County Transfer Station & Recycling Center. These materials include:

• E-Waste (TVs, computers, stereo equipment, cell phones, etc. Not accepted at HAZ-DROP.)
• Household batteries and car batteries
• Motor oil and oil filters
• Antifreeze
• Sharps (Syringes and hypodermic needles must be properly packaged and sealed in an approved, puncture-proof container to be accepted.)
• Paint (Must be in original, empty container with label to be accepted.)
